Frequently Asked Questions

1. How do I place an order?

You can place an order by calling 304-205-7753, sending an email to info@sugarpiebakerywv.com or visiting the bakery.

2. Do I need to pay a deposit?

We require a 50% deposit for all orders over $25.

 

3. Do you deliver?

Yes! If you would like us to deliver an order for you the cost is $5 per mile.

Typically we do most of our deliveries on Saturday but we are able to make deliveries through the week if we have the staff available. To protect our employees we deliver to businesses ONLY.

4.Do you ship?

No, unfortunately we do not ship our made from scratch desserts. Due to the fact that we do not use stabilizers or artificial ingredients our desserts do not hold up well during the shipping process.

5.Do you make sugar free, gluten free, dairy free, soy free or egg free desserts?

We make gluten free cakes and cupcakes as well as Macarons which are made with almond flour and therefore naturally gluten free.

We have made egg free sugar cookies in the past and we offer a limited menu of Keto Diet friendly desserts which are made with almond and coconut flour as well as sugar substitutes such as Erythritol.

As for soy and dairy free we unfortunately do not offer these options at this time.

6. Can I make changes to my order after it has been placed?

If you would like to make changes to a cake order we kindly ask that you do so at least 3 days before your pick up date. Handmade decor can sometimes takes several days to dry and all decor is made to fit the size of the cake you order.

If you want to make changes to a cupcake order or any other type of order we kindly ask that you do so at least 2 days before your pick up date to ensure we have the proper ingredients.

7.How soon should I place my order?

As soon as possible!  We book up quickly especially on weekends and during holidays.  It is never too early to book your date!

8.Should I refrigerate my cake or cupcakes?

No! We use ONLY real butter (no shortening here) in our cake batters as well as in our buttercream icing and well ... you know what butter does when it gets cold. We suggest leaving your cake or cupcakes at room temperature.

9. Can I freeze my cake or cupcakes?

You can freeze them for future enjoyment but we suggest allowing them to sit at room temperature for at least a few hours. We can not guarantee that the texture will not be effected slightly by freezing.

10. How long will my dessert stay fresh?

Since we do not use any time of stabilizers or artificial ingredients, all of our desserts are intended to be enjoyed as soon as possible.

 

11.Are your cupcakes REALLY baked fresh every morning?

Yes! We come in at 6:30 every morning to begin baking for the day.

12. Do you offer discounts on large quantity orders?

If you order 10+ dozen cupcakes we charge $28 per dozen instead of $32. For all other large quantity discount questions please call the bakery.

13. I forgot about a birthday and need a cake today. Is that possible?

It depends. More often than not we are busy working on other orders and unfortunately do not have time to bake and decorate a last minute cake. That isn't to say you shouldn't call. Sometimes you'll get lucky and we'll have the time. We always have cupcakes which are perfect for last minute events.

14. What if I need to cancel my order?

We understand that things come up and you have to cancel or post pone an event. If you cancel 72 hours prior to your pick up date we will refund 75% of the amount paid or give you 100% in store credit. If you cancel less than 72 hours prior we will refund 45% of the amount paid or give you 100% in store credit. 

 

Please understand that when you place an order we have to order materials in order to make it and we also might turn away customers due to being booked prior to you canceling your order.

15. What if I'm unhappy with my order?

Our number one mission is that every customer leaves our bakery happy with their purchase. Since all of our products are made from scratch by real people, sometimes mistakes can happen. If we made a mistake please tell us and we will do all that we can to fix it.

To qualify for any kind of refund we need to be made aware of any issues within 24 hours of when you picked up your order. The amount of the refund given is at the owners discretion.

16. How much is a typical cake?

That's a tough question to answer because honesty there is no typical cake. On our Cake page you'll find basic prices but the final price of any cake depends on how it's decorated.

17. I placed an order for 10 AM, can I pick it up earlier?

We ask for pick up times so that we can schedule our day and make sure that every order is completed on time. There are days when we are able to complete an order earlier than originally planned but for the most part we bake and/or decorate according to the pick up time you gave us. That means that we might not be able to have your order ready earlier.

18. I left a voicemail/sent an email Friday afternoon. When can I expect a reply?

Fridays and Saturdays are CRAZY busy at any bakery and ours is no different. If you reached out to us on either of these days and don't immediately get a reply please don't worry. We try to respond to all emails and voicemails as soon as humanly possible and will get back to you. We promise!

19. Do you offer consultations for wedding cakes?

20. What if I can't make it to the bakery for a consultation?

Not a problem. We have done many consultations via email and phone calls with Brides from out of state.
